Biography

 

Dara is a Bulgarian pop singer whose distinctive voice, stage presence, and artistic versatility have made her one of the most influential contemporary performers in Bulgaria. She graduated from a National Art School and began her musical journey at a young age, studying folk singing under the guidance of a professional music pedagogue — a foundation that shaped her vocal identity and artistic discipline.

She rose to national prominence in late 2015 after reaching the final of the Bulgarian edition of The X Factor, directed by Kiril Kirov – KIKO, where she was mentored by Kristian Talev – KRISKO. Her rapid ascent continued: in 2018, Dara won the BG Radio Music Award for Best Female Performer, solidifying her position as a leading voice in Bulgarian pop music.

In 2020, she reached the final of the hit TV show Your Face Sounds Familiar/Като две капки вода (Season 8), again directed by Kiril Kirov – KIKO, showcasing her ability to transform, interpret, and perform across genres. She later joined The Voice of Bulgaria as a coach in 2021 and 2022, mentoring emerging artists and contributing to the development of the next generation of Bulgarian talent.

On 19 June 2022, Dara received the BG Radio Music Award for Best Music Video for her single “Thunder”, further demonstrating her creative vision and artistic evolution.

In 2024, Dara returned for the fifth time as a coach on The Voice of Bulgaria, reaffirming her role as one of the most influential mentors in the country’s contemporary music scene.

Eurovision Song Contest 2026
In May 2026, Dara achieved the greatest milestone of her career — and a historic moment for Bulgaria — by winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with her song “Bangaranga.”  
She secured a total of 516 points, marking Bulgaria’s first-ever Eurovision victory.

As per Eurovision tradition, the jury votes were announced first, followed by the public televote. Bangaranga dominated both:

Jury vote: 204 points

Televote: 312 points

Dara became the first artist in nearly a decade to win both the jury and public vote — a rare and remarkable achievement that underscores the universal impact of her performance. 👏👏👏​

The winning entry was created together with Virginia Records’ leading production team, whose creative direction and international expertise shaped a track that resonated across Europe. Their work on “Bangaranga” blended cutting-edge pop production with Dara’s unique vocal identity, delivering one of the standout Eurovision performances of the decade.
